Miles @ 4 Months

Miles turned into a cross country traveler this month.  Isaiah, Grandma Mary, Reagan, Miles and I all jumped in the car for the 18 hour drive to Salt Lake.  Miles was a very good rider as far as my kids go, which isn't saying much.  At least he didn't scream for 6 hours straight like Melody did at his age.  He got to go through 6 new states on the trip and go hiking in the Rocky Mountains.  He also got to meet lots of family.

Miles is such a smile, happy guy.  He loves for anyone to talk to him and will squeak, giggle, and coo back.  He is really fat and everyone loves his cheeks.  He has gotten heavy to pack around.  He is already in size 3 diapers and almost to outgrow his 3-6 months clothes.

Isaiah has been sneaking him little tastes of different foods.  He will let Miles just lick a grape or watermelon and Miles facial expression turns to one of "Are you trying to poison me."  It cracks us up every time.

Reagan has really taken to Miles in the last few weeks.  She will ask to just sit and talk to him.  If one of the other kids is playing with him, she comes right over and pushes them out of the way, so she can play with him.

Derby Racing Time

The boys have really enjoyed building derby cars with their dad.  This year Isaiah helped Carter and a friends son build their cars.

Carter and his dad spent all day one Saturday picking out designs and sanding the car to shape.  Then Carter worked on getting it painted just perfect.  I tried to help him think less is more as far as the paint job went because he wanted to put blotches everywhere.  In the end he did a great job. When it was time to put the wheels on Isaiah found out that they didn't fit good because of the design, so he had to spend a few days working out a fix, but like always he came through.  On race day the car looked great.

Carter raced against twenty other races.  It was fun to see all the different designs and how excited all the boys got as the race went on.  Carter ended up taking 7th.

Carter's 9th Birthday!

Carter is my quiet thinker.  He loves to do puzzles and build with legos, so much so that Ben always has him do his lego building for him.  He is also very kind hearted and tries to look out for his little sisters and brother.

He is also becoming a good piano player.  He loves to try and play his pieces of music as fast has he can without mistakes.  It is fun to watch his fingers fly across the keys with his head bopping to the beat all at top speed.

For his birthday this year, he decided to have chocolate cupcakes.  He helped me make them and then he put the sprinkles on and stacked them all by himself.

We had Grandma Mary and Will and Jeannie over for our little family party.  Carter got a watch, a knife, legos, a book: "Summer of the Monkeys," a book filled with puzzles, two puzzles, and a snap circuit set.  Do we notice the puzzle theme here.

Miles @ 3 Months

Miles personality shines through more and more everyday.  He loves to be talked to and will light up when ever anyone gives him the time of day.  He will smile and coo and almost laugh.  Sometimes he makes such loud noises trying to talk, he scares himself.

He has gotten over a lot of his fussiness and is pretty easy going.  As long as I rotate him from bounce seat, to floor, to being held and talked to, to walking him around then he stays pretty happy.  Luckily by doing all of that I have been able to still get the kids through their school work everyday even with a newborn.

I have been slowly taking Miles outside on the nicer days.  He is getting better about handling the wind blowing on him if it is just a gently breeze.
He still spits up quit a bit, but not has bad as Ben and Carter did.  Miles is very chunky and we call him are little marshmallow because of all his squishy rolls.

He is sleeping long and longer at night.  Now he goes for a good 6 hours before needing to eat during the night. He likes to go to bed at 7 and get up around 530.  I don't mind the early bed time because it gives Isaiah and I time to hang out but I wish he would sleep till 600, so I am trying to move his bedtime closer to 8.

He is getting really good at using his hands.  He will grab stuff and trying to play with it.  He also loves to look at his and and wiggle his fingers.  It is like he is focusing really hard and making his hands do what he wants and figure them out.  It is interesting to see him so fascinated with his fingers.  I don't remember the other kids being that way.

Miles @ 2 Months

Another month has past. Time just keeps marching no matter how much we think things will stay the same.

We took Miles in for his last checkup the day after he turned 2 months.  He weighed 13 lbs. 7 oz and was 24 inches long.  Pretty much, he is doing a good job growing.  Brenda (my midwife) said he looks great, he just need more tummy time to strengthen his neck muscles.

He has gotten a lot happier during this month.  I think his little digestive system is working better.  He did get a cold which gave him a stuffy nose for a few days.  His temper really showed through then because that stuffy noise made him so mad.

He loves to be talked to and will coo and smile to anyone listening.  The older kids love to talk to him which is nice for me. Reagan has grow more attached to him. If she sees someone holding him, she gets very upset because she is worried they are going to take him away. I gave up on trying to get him to take a plug (pacifier). He also spits up a lot, but so did my other boys.

Isaiah thinks he looks like my brother Monte and I have to agree that his takes after myside of the family much more then the other kids.

Happy 7th Birthday Amita!!

I can hardly believe my baby princess isn't really a baby anymore.  She is growing up so fast.  She is starting to turn into a little lady.  She likes to hang out with her big brothers more and more.  She is a super big helper with Reagan and Miles whenever I need an extra hand.

For her birthday, we did a simple party with just our little family here.  I let her pick what kind of cake she wanted and she chose to make rice crispies.  I didn't have any number 7 candle, so I improvised and used a 4+3.  We all sang, enjoyed the "cake" and then watched her open presents.  She got a CTR ring, a paint set, a skylander, a hello kitty shirt, and a princess set.

In the evening, Isaiah took the 4 oldest to the skating rink to have some more birthday fun. I stayed home with the two non-skaters, but it sounded like they had a wonderful time.

Garden Time

Here is is, snowy February and it's already time to start garden work. Seems strange to have the ground covered in inches of snow and be planting our garden. Right now is the time to get our tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, broccoli and others veggies started indoors, so they are ready to transplant in April.

Melody was my little planter. She helped plant all the seeds in our four start trays. It is just like her to help all the way through a project. She loves to work and help with anything.

Miles @ 1 Month

I can't believe Miles is already one month. Truly the time does fly by. He is growing like a champ. At one week he weighed 9lbs 2oz and at 3 weeks he weighed 10lbs. 4oz. He definitely loves to eat all the time; only going about 1.5 hours between feedings except sometimes last a 4 hours stretch between meals during the night.
Just love when he sleeps with his booty in the air.

He likes to start his day at about 5 (I try to hold him off till closer to 6), then after being awake for roughly 2 hours his back asleep for an hour and then up again for about an hour and half. Then he sleeps till about 3 in the afternoon only waking up to eat. He is awake for an hour and does a quick cat nap and then is up till about 6:30-7 then he goes to bed for the night.
I would love to say he is a happy easy going baby, but he isn't. He is pretty fussy when awake, but when he does decided to calm down and smile and coo at me it just makes my heart melt. The kids have really taken to him. Amita and Melody love to hold him. Ben will stop and talk to him when he is awake. Reagan playes this little pig with his toes while I nursed him. She does get a little jealous at times when I can't help her or play with her the instant that she wants but she is getting better about it.

Blue & Gold Banquet

The boys had their annual Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet this week. The theme was tropical. Everyone got to draw a flower and hang it up to make the room feel tropical, and they served Hawaiian haystacks for dinner. Jeannie, James, Rachael, Michael and Grandma Mary all came to see the boys receive their awards. Carter received his wolf badge.
Benjamin was awarded Cub Scouts highest award, the Arrow of Light. Benjamin has worked so hard all year to earn the award and I am so proud of him. Isaiah and him spent a few days making his arrow that shows all his achievements in Cub Scouts. He earned his bobcat, wolf, bear, religious knot, gold arrow point, silver arrow point, weblos, naturalist, showman, outdoorsman, handyman, citizen, geologist, fitness, readyman, and lots of belt loops.
He also got to cross over into The Boy Scouts and gets to start that adventure.

First Bath

Miles finally got his first bath at 18 days old. It has just been so cold and I have been so tired, it never seemed like a good time. I decided he really did need one when Isaiah started asking how he liked his baths.
He totally loved it. He hates being naked, so he started fussing as soon as I undressed him, but once he was in the water he stopped crying and was very peaceful. The bath must have relaxed him because he went right to sleep afterwards

The 6 Pack

I finally got all six kids rounded up for a group photo.  Yes, it is amazingly hard to get a good picture of six kids and this is the best one I was able to take in the five minutes that Miles gave us between naps and crying.

And of course we had to have one of all the boys together.

He's Here

Miles Leon Andra was born Friday Jan. 17 at 5:24pm.  He weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20" long.  His original due date was on the 19th.  I got to have a water birth at home with him which is were I am most comfortable.

Everyone is in love with him especially the girls.  They ask to hold him all the time.  The boys aren't quit sure what to do with him.  If you ask Reagan who's baby it is she says mom's.

At his one week check up he weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz.  He nurses like a champ and didn't have his days and nights mixed up which has been such a blessing.
